Horticultural Therapy Teaching Sessions

The Guelph Enabling Garden welcomes all to participate in these FREE educational workshops. Private Sessions facilitated by the Garden’s Horticultural Therapist can also be scheduled on alternate dates and times. To register for a teaching session contact: lea@green-ideas.ca
               
All sessions take place in The Guelph Enabling Garden, located in Riverside Park on the west side of the Speed River. Donations always welcome. 

Propagating Potted Plants – Wednesday June 12th, 2013. 7-8pm
Learn how to easily propagate mint and ivy plants into a pot so that you can enjoy your own container garden even if you only have access to a balcony or a concrete yard.

Learn How To Dry Herbs For Culinary and Crafts – Wednesday June 19th 2013. 7-8pm

The Art Of Flower Pressing – Wednesday June 26th 2013. 7-8 pm
Find out how to preserve beautiful flowers through the art of flower pressing.

Tour the Garden and admire what’s in bloom. Create a small bouquet so that you can bring the outdoors in.

“Digging deeper”, “Planting the seed”, “Cultivating relationships”. Did you realize that the garden gives us symbols that we can use for our own personal growth and development? Find out how metaphors used in the garden can enrich your life.

Delight yourself with the fragrances in the Garden. Learn how to make potpourri sachets using essential oils and dried scented garden herbs.

Learn how to make nature-inspired greeting cards for your friends using pressed flowers.

Herbal Teas – Wednesday August 14th 2013. 7-8pm
Learn about the medicinal qualities of garden herbs and how to make them into the perfect cup of tea.

Welcome In Wreaths – Wednesday August 21st 2013. 7-8pm
Decorate your own grapevine wreath using dried flowers and herbs to hang on your door to welcome in your guests.

Learn how to make natural health and beauty products right from your garden.


Kids Garden Workshops:
Friends in the Garden – Thursday July 11th, 10 am
Come to the Enabling Garden to make a puppet friend who you can explore the garden with!
This activity is suitable for children between the ages of 5-8 years old. Parents and siblings are welcome to join in.
                                                                                                                              
Making Sense of Your Senses in the Garden – Thursday August 22nd, 10 am
Explore the Garden using all of your senses and then express what you sense through art and poetry. This activity is suitable for children between the ages of 6-12 years old. Parents and siblings are welcome to join in.

Taking place in the Guelph Enabling Garden at 6:30 pm, weather permitting. A unique way to spend an evening. Experienced and new knitters welcome. Come with your own knitting project and learn tricks of the trade or teach others. Refreshments provided. Please bring a mug if you would like tea.
